First place with one game to play. Set any Sunday score below and see exactly who makes the final.
Cheat sheet: any win or tie puts us in. So does a loss where we score 3. Anything else, set the scores — the race below reruns live with the tournament's exact rules.
| Team | W-L-T | GF-GA | GD | PTS | Max |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mission Viejo Strikers | 2-0-0 | 7-2 | +5 | 19 | 29 |
| Pateadores | 2-0-0 | 7-5 | +2 | 18 | 28 |
| City SC Carlsbad White * | 1-0-1 | 2-1 | +1 | 11 | 21 |
| SD Surf Del Mar | 0-1-1 | 2-3 | –1 | 6 | 16 |
| Albion II | 0-2-0 | 3-5 | –2 | 3 | 13 |
| Albion I | 0-2-0 | 3-8 | –5 | 3 | 13 |
Surf and both Albion teams can no longer catch us; only Pateadores and City SC are mathematically alive. * City SC carries a –1 ejection deduction.
Broke through minutes before halftime, then added three more after the break. Four unanswered, a shutout.
Up 2–0 at halftime. Surf pulled two back; the Strikers scored the one that decided it.
Our 19: the 4–0 win was a maximum 10 (6 + 3 goals + shutout); the 3–2 win was a 9 (6 + 3 goals). Translation for Sunday: every goal up to three is a standings point, and a shutout is a fourth. A 3–0 win is worth the full 10.
If teams finish level on points, the order is: head-to-head result, goal differential, fewest goals against, goals for, most wins, then penalty kicks.
We never play Pateadores or City SC in group play, so any tie involving us skips straight to goal differential, where our +5 leads the flight. The one trap: if we lose while City wins big with a shutout and we finish level on points and GD, it drops to goals against, and City has allowed just 1. That is why "lose scoring 2" is the danger zone. Test it in the scenario machine above.
Pateadores (18 pts): plays Surf at 1:10. Any tie or win locks them into the final conversation at 22+. They have scored 7 but allowed 5, including 2 to Albion II and 3 to Albion I. If we meet them at 5:50, it is our defense (2 allowed) against theirs (5 allowed).
City SC (11 pts): alive only if all of this happens: they beat Albion I by 3+ goals with a shutout for their max of 21, AND we lose while scoring 2 or fewer. They have scored exactly 2 goals in 2 games, and they are already carrying a –1 ejection deduction.
Everyone else: mathematically eliminated from catching us. Surf tops out at 16, both Albion squads at 13.
We lead Pateadores 19–18. Match or beat their Sunday result and we enter the final as the top seed. The max-points recipe vs Albion II: win, score 3, keep the shutout. A 3–0 earns all 10 points and settles seeding outright.
The record since April 1. Fifteen games. One loss. And the loss was a tournament final, by one goal.
Tustin won our flight without losing a game all spring. In March they beat us 3-0. In May we drew them 2-2. Same opponent. Different Strikers.
At the Mission Viejo Classic we entered the U12 bracket. Won the group. Reached the final. Region 84 has twelve Extra teams. One of them has played in a final this year. This one.
Goals against per game, through March vs the last ten games. Four shutouts in that stretch. That is Connor in goal, with Kaiden and Grayson in front of him.
